Parochial Church Council (PCC)
This is the primary committee involved in the running of our Church and meets about eight times a year on weekday evenings. It consists of the vicar, churchwardens and a number of elected members. It forms an official, elected body that shares responsibility for the Parish with the vicar and provides an opportunity for parishioners to contribute to the running and direction of All Saints' Weston. The PCC is not simply about money or building projects. Anything and everything to do with the Church's work - forms of service, robes to be worn, for example - may be debated.
Elections for membership of the PCC are held at the Annual Meeting of Parishioners (APCM). Nomination sheets for membership of the PCC can be found on the noticeboard at the back of the Church about four weeks before the APCM.
The PCC is supported by a number of sub-committees, each one concerned with the detail of a particular aspect of the work and running of our Church:
-
Pastoral - considers pastoral as well as practical aspects of worship and Christian life
-
Finance - supports the Treasurer with the financial administration and planning of this Church
-
Hall - day-to-day operation of the hall
-
Management - overall management and upkeep of the Church, hall and vicarage and the surrounding gardens
-
Social - plans and organises social events
-
Standing - personnel matters and urgent items arising between PCC meetings
These sub-committees meet formally between five and eight times a year. They consist of members of the PCC together with other volunteers. Their work often involves members meeting up between meetings to do various jobs and tasks. Many friendships have been developed in this way.
The operation and structure of the PCC and its sub-committees are covered by regulations issued by the Church of England plus policies passed at PCC and APCM meetings.
To be a member of the PCC, you need to be over 16 and listed on the electoral roll of All Saints Weston.
Annual Meeting of Parishioners (APCM)
This meeting takes place on a weekday evening in March or April each year and provides an opportunity for parishioners to hear about the work of All Saints Weston and to ask questions. Our annual accounts are presented by the Treasurer. Reports are presented by the vicar, churchwardens, sub-committees of the PCC, groups involved in the functioning of the Church such as servers, sidesmen, flower arrangers, and by organisations affiliated to us, such as the scouts, guides and Mothers' Union.
To attend the meeting, you need to be on the electoral roll of All Saints Weston.
Electoral Roll
This is an official list of the members of the congregation of our Church. You need to be on the electoral roll to be a member of the Parochial Church Council (PCC), to attend the Annual Meeting of Parishioners (APCM) and to be married in our Church.
Churchwardens
These are two parishioners elected at the Annual Meeting of Parishioners (APCM) who work closely with the vicar and have the authority of senior officers of the PCC.
